Korina vs mahogany. Feb 25, 2002 · Can anyone describe the tone difference between a korina guitar and a mahogany guitar, say like an explorer or V? There is a difference in body materials between the 1958 Explorer and the 1958 Korina Explorers, which is why they have seperate entries in the wiki. Unfortunately, with the extra resonance, you might loose some sustain, raunchiness and attitude of the darker/heavier mahogany. I've found the same model guitar with either a mohagany body neck, or korina body neck.
